The situation with UK fish sums it up: EU gave access to existing EU and restricted UK fishermen with quotas [ "level playing field"] EU founders modernised and sell fish they catch back to UK supermarkets destroying UK fishmongers and fishing industry. Severe quotas meant it was not financially viable to modernise on the UK side. Transportation from EU massively increased and that is not environmentally friendly. They did the same with milk and milk quotas destroying milkman and no more cows grazing in UK Fields. France producers the milk now.
