Everybody should eat less meat and we already have a symbiotic relationship with food and plants. I'm a tomato producer and I once kept outdoor pigs. I eat very little meat now!

Caro ThePeanut Your right. I've bought my own 14 acres land, made it as nature reserve and planted many native trees. It's very satisfying to see birds nest in trees that I planted, owls and buzzards hunting mice there & wide range of wildlife that wouldn't be living there if it was still agricultural land! More people should get together to buy a piece of land to plant a nature reserve, it's a lot better than religion!

Judith Mendez No, I wanted to grow organic produce but the farmer whose Land I rented persuaded me to keep pigs to eat everything that is not saleable, root up & eat roots of all harvested vegetables improving the ground for next year etc. I treated my pigs like dogs and took them for walks at the hill farm was on. They are very demanding animals and squeal for their food everyday and fight over food even if you put in more than they can eat, bit like rich people! Which is not endearing. I would say my pigs offspring did love me but they had to go into the human food chain. One day at a large slaughterhouse the machinery broke down and hearing the noise of all the squealing pigs inside the slaughterhouse my young pigs jumped back in my van, even though I had removed the ramp. this was very traumatic particularly as there were signs my pigs had been fighting unknown pigs in the slaughterhouse on the finished produce. Pigs are territorial. Nobody has to keep livestock and now I'm working for a tomato producer

Malcolm Bartram True but being a rigid and brittle protester is not the same as being fit, flexible and planting a few thousand trees to make up to nature!

Connor Willis meat is a complete protein but pigs can grow meat eating soya bean and barley because they have complementary proteins. Humans can eat beans & grains, they grow their own meat in their own body

Bruce király Yes I'm proud of eating very little meat. My experience in breeding outdoor pigs has been an advantage in learning about balancing protein to enable a person's body to make complete protein. It's no good just looking at the protein content on the packet the usefulness of the protein is limited if your body can't make complete protein. Beans are complementary to grains. Societies who eat very little meat such as Chinese, traditionally balance beans with rice but beans on toast is actually a protein balanced meal!
