  1. This is logical but fails to take into account the ginormous scale of the two main military bases that the US handed over to the PI's after the Philippines senate refused to renew the leases. Subic and Clark generated so much domestic demand that they were effectively the governing authorities in those provinces. I miss them but I know why it happened

  2.  @websitemartian  no just lived in Manila for 10 years - I went to school with kids from everywhere including USG, used to go shopping on the bases when my uncle was at the US embassy for 3 years, and played sports against the base schools and partied
