@rizunify it's about chronology. Calling Rus a Ukraine is like calling Julius Caesar an "Ancient Italian emperor". Or calling Ancient Rome an "Ancient Italy". Or calling Latin an "Ancient Italian language". That's exactly how Ukrainian propaganda works.

Yeah and Ancient Rome is Italy!!

@rizunify nobody calls you empire until one day you call it yourselves. Every ruler should aim to extend the might of his country and its international prestige. History likes strong people and gets rid off polite, gentle and weak rulers.

@rizunify Well Russian Empire never was a classical empire. I mean instead of robing the new territories to enrich the metropoly, as it was in Anicent Rome or enslaving their population, as Western European colonizators did in India and Africa, RE tried to develop the new areas and to give their nobility equal rights. Somebody thinks it was a mistake and supposes if little nations lived in reservations like American Indians and the population was only Russian everywhere, this Empire would not collapse by national borders. But in the same time we can see a wonderful example of copllaboration in modern Russian Federation - national republics have their presidents and constitutions, local languages are equal to Russian within republics, there are mass-media in national languages and nobody is suppressed for their identity. This way is way more difficult but it pays off - different cultures enrich Russian culture. Nowadays attaching new territories only raises spendings. There are many ways to attach countries or to make friends using only economy. But again this way is more difficult and needs strong economy which Russia doesn't have.

@rizunify yes, the war ruined all the diplomatic achievements but I blame not only the Russian administration but also Western elites. They knew the war will happen but did not do anything to prevent it. Instead they were preparing for it stuffing Ukraine with weapons and lying Ukrainian people. We know it from the new book by Bob Woodward called "War" published in 2024.

@rizunify I suppose things were complicated rather than economical policy fail but there is a good book "War" by Bob Woodward which reveals how things were from the American perspective.

Most likely, the Rurikovichs were killed by the Tatar-Mongols during their constant raids Impossible. There were too many of Rurikovichs by that time. Ivan the Terrible was more like the Tatars than the Vikings Even the Rurikovichs of 11th century worshiped Byzantium culture way more than Scandinavian. At the icons picturing them you can see them dressed up in Byzantium fashion and it was that way until Peter the 1st when they got rid off the heavy golden fur coats, beards and tall fur hats.

Русы и пруссы упоминаются в источниках того времени по отдельности.
