  1. MUGWUMP, you'd be surprised what we Dutchies can put on bikes. Most of our bikes also aren't the racing type, they are build for upright cycling and are very, very sturdy, and they all have a little rack in the back and sometimes in the front to put stuff on. If you need to transport something bigger you have everything from small boxes you can put on the front rack to a big crate with their own wheels you can attach to your bike. When my parents didn't have a car yet and they had to move they did everything with such a 'bakfiets', even the bigger furniture.
