  1. My mom is a boomer and she's autistic. She was literally abused and bullied by her mother because she 'refused to be normal' and like the boomer meme says 'was a brat'. Then it took 50 years to be diagnosed, by which point she had already had multiple mental breakdowns and had become an alcoholic because she couldn't fucking function in the world without help or medication. I'm autistic too, and I was diagnosed at 20 because mental health professionals still have trouble identifying autism in women, and that diagnosis was just in time. Finally knowing what the problem was prevented me from killing myself. I would not have made it to 50 without diagnosis, help or meds.
