  1. 😮EV's do 2.46 times as much damage to roads and bridges as equivalent petrol vehicles. That's another showstopper, we cannot possibly afford it. And if we are living in a brave new world powered on sunshine and breezes, where are we going to get millions of tons of tar to fix them? The most hilarious thing about it all is the following: EV zombie says he/she is looking forward to society using a lot less gasoline and diesel fuel because there will be lovely clean air in our cities. Realist points out that we would still need oil for tarmac, lubricants, plastics, and goodness knows how many non energy uses. Realist points out that if oil companies could no longer sell diesel, gasoline or jet fuel that oil production would be completely uneconomic and would cease altogether imediately. Realist points out that if by a miracle it were somehow possible to continue crude oil production , we would have to continue producing 100 million barrels of oil a day like we do now. The reason is that a barrel of oil can only produce a small amount of the specialised oil products so you need a lot of barrels to have enough for the global economy. That means that we would have tanker loads of unwanted diesel, gasoline and jet fuel to dispose of every day since those products are mostly what comes out of a barrel. We couldnt just start dumping it in the sea because we'd poison the whole planet that way. To dispose of it, we'd have to, erm, burn it all.
