  1. Peter believes that someone somehow is going to spend billions of dollars connecting oil wells that flare gas to the gas network. That mostly doesn't happen because it's far too expensive. The gas will continue to be flared because that's better for the climate than releasing it to the atmosphere. Nor does shale oil fracking have low production costs, that's totally wrong. It takes massive resources and many highly paid specialists to drill and frack a well, and the 'oil' they produce is mostly exported because American refineries don't want it (too light).
