Another problem with MA, and even MMA translating to the street, or bar is that there are rules, and conditions for safety. Which is great, for avoiding serious injury that could end an MMA fighter's career, but in the real world, there's no Weight Class. An 87lb woman has to defend herself against a 22+lb attacker, or multiple attackers, every day. You're most likely to be standing on Concrete, instead of a practice mat. There's no octagon of Chain Link to keep the combatants from going out of bounds, or THE CROWD GETTING INVOLVED. In a real life fight, 9 times out of 10, Escape is an option, and so is outlasting the opponent (Ropadoping) until someone hears the screams, and comes to see what it's all about. Which is why you don't see defense whistles, or cellphones in the Octagon: People didn't pay to see someone call the cops. One of the dangers of this "I got this" mentality is that Courage is interpreted as walking around as a badass, taking all comers, and expecting your Brazilian Juijitzu to work on concrete, with broken beer bottles, and possibly used needles, against pretty much anyone that shows up. That's before you wind up in jail for Assault. (Where they don't have practice mats, and the efforts to keep combatants away from each other is, less effective than it appears in Madison Square Garden.)

This is like the Rock Hudson Closet. How the hell did Rock Hudson get outed before Liberace? Okay, now compare say Bruce Lee to Hulk Hogan. {Points} "That's fake!" Well, duh? I mean, Bruce Lee wasn't fake, he was a real martial artist, with a real system, and some impressive feats, but the character we saw, in the movies. The wire work, the psychological effect of his "WAAAAH!"s Hulk Hogan was a real athlete who could really pick you up, and throw you over a real top rope, whether you know how to land on the other side, or not. Penn Gillette "Of course it's not real magic." It's easy to point out something that's "Fake" and overlook the real skill, and practice that went into it. To oretend that Penn Gillette, Hulk Hogan, and Bruce Lee are no better than the rest of us (In their respective fields. incidentally, Penn Gillette is a Juggler, who can juggle real broken glass bottles, for real. That's not "Fake.")

Nothing can protect you. This is the central lie in all Security Theater. You have to try to protect yourself, under any circumstance in which your life might be in danger, which is impossible. We can't go around life fearful of ninjas around every corner, because there aren't ninjas around every corner. However, the central lure is the action movie fantasy. "In a world with ninjas around every corner, one man must protect himself." That's the central proposition: You have to protect Yourself. No weapon, gadget, system of secret techniques, nor even security system can do that for you. However, the makers of Security Systems can't sell products that aren't 100% effective. Nothing is 100% effective forever. If you come up with an unbeatable technique, someone will come up with a technique to defeat it.

MMA shows which Martial Arts work in the Octagon. So, watching that, you may be led to believe that Kickboxing, and some form of JuiJitsu is the best mix. In the octagon, however if you're attacked, it's most likely to be on the street, or in your home. It doesn't include weapons (For the fighter's safety) and I'm not even talking about guns, and knives here. Beer bottles, broken glass, concrete, and brick walls. This is the environment people live in, and train to defend themselves in. It's one, on one, to make it a "Fair fight." It's separated by weight class, and segregated by gender. I wouldn't want to take on Gina Carano in a duel to the death, but an attack isn't going to be a duel to the death. The fighters are given time to prepare, they quite likely know their attackers, their fighting styles, and which leg they favor from watching videos of them fight. In real life, you're talking about defending yourself from a chair, to the back of the head, from behind, because you didn't even know the attacker was there, or existed. All martial arts, security systems, weapons, and gadgets promise you this. Protection from the danger around you, when the truth is, you can be killed by a falling brick, because someone who died of old age wasn't careful laying the wall, 200 years ago. Or, a drug addict picked up that brick when you weren't looking.

"She was able to confirm that the stones aligned perfectly with the sun and the moon..." When the circles were erected? She does realize that the progression of the earth's axis isn't consistent, and hasn't been for billions of years, right? In 12,000 BCE, Vega was the pole star, nowhere near Ursa Minor. Because the axis precesses, as it has done ever since the world started spinning. Since the (Greek) Zodiac was written, a 13th constellation (Ophiuchus) has moved into the plane of the ecliptic. So, isn't it convenient that it just so happened to line up, perfectly, with the sun AND moon (Who's movements are so unpredictable, we've only recently created a consistently accurate predictive model, with computers) again thousands of years later? Looking for the conclusion, and finding it isn't Science. It's closer to Faith.

Look at what's missing from these pictures: The construction is incomplete, the stones are weathered, some of them are gone, there might be some wooden structure that rotted away, and the alignment of them is relative to the position of the observer. Where are you standing when you see the sun rise in between those 2 weathered stones over there, the center? Where's the center, and how was it marked? When was this place built, and where what the Horizon back then? Let's say it was a round 2,500 years ago. Where there trees over there, on that ridge, when the sun rose, 2,500 years ago? Has that ridge eroded any? That's your horizon, now, where the sun is rising, when you line up to see what stones are "Aligned" with the sun rise. Is that evidence that the Ancients (Also, who set those stones up in the first place?) set it up to align with the sun rise, behind that hill, countless centuries beforehand? Okay, then why didn't they mark the spot where you're supposed to stand?
