Okay, if you change it to the Modern Meme. The oldest memes were probably cave drawings, or dipping your hands in ochre, and making birds. Preserving a shadow puppet on the walls, or what have you. All of thse are pre-historic, because that's what our pictographic languages like Hieroglyphics grew out of, memetically. Those were the first memes, and it might have been started some stonemason scribing his cartouche on the stones of the first pyramids. (Cartouches started to appear in the Third Kingdom, some 2700 years ago, and they weren't just the Pharoahs'. Those weren't even the first Memes.) Memetics is the science of how humans communicate, basically without Memes, we wouldn't have language. The word "We" is a meme, because it signifies solidarity with each other as opposed to you, or me. However, the internet mistook Image Macros for "Memes," and that use itself became a meme. Calling Image Macros "Memes" is a meme in and of itself.
