  1. Radiocarbon dating the organic material in something like Plaster requires understanding what was used in the plaster. Radiocarbon Dating starts the clock when something dies. That's when the Carbon 14 starts decaying relative to the other 2 isotopes of carbon in the sample. (Because it stopped breathing in CO2 from the Atmosphere.) However, some materials like Straw work better when they're fresh, ish. Fresh on the timescale of human life, it's still dried, but it's dried days maybe months before you polish the wall with it. That's how Archaeologists knows it was (Relatively) Fresh carbon.
