  1. We don't have to suppose brutal "Persecution" throughout. Keep in mind, these are still very much a Jewish people. I don't want to go there, but Persecution, and Secrecy are there. In both traditions. It could be just "Disapproval." Possibly scattered disapproval. You don't have to have a King, Emperor, or Czar riding you down with Cavalry to see where this can go. Especially when you have history of kings, emperors, and Pharoahs riding you down with Cavalry. This ain't America. Okay? You can't just fly a flag back then. Even if you can, you still remember your grandmother's stories about when we realllllly couldn't.
