This is something that shouldn't happen, but does. Like the Senate bipartisan setting their own benefits for decades, because they didn't ratify the 27th Amendment for 200 years. SCotUS is supposed to be Non-Partisan. Your political views are supposed to be non-sequitur, but they aren't. So, we have Liberal Justices, and Conservative Justices with no provision to prevent that. Also, the Senate isn't supposed to rule that a half black president isn't allowed to appoint a seat in the last year of his second term so that his successor can appoint as many in 1 term as Reagan did in 2.

"Good behavior" kinda flies out the window with Justice Cavanaugh. I don't think that "I was young" is a good excuse for a Lifetime Appointment "In times of good behavior." He hasn't stopped drinking. He admitted that he likes to drink, though he hasn't made The first Step to admit he's an Alcoholic, he's got decades to support his lack of good moral judgement when he drinks. Right? So, at what point did this become "A time of good behavior?" The last time he got drunk, and did something stupid, bordering on Criminal? When was that? I'm sorry, but the Senate is not going to allow any testimony to establish that. So, we might as well amend the language to "In times of good behavior, as long as you don't get caught."

The conundrum is who gets to decide what constitutes "Good behavior?" The Supreme Court, the Senate, or the bad-boy president that appointed him as a Quid Pro Quo to overturn Roe v. Wade to gain more support from the Senate? This is why the SCotUS is supposed to be non-partisan, and isolated from Politics: Because they can be overruled by a Conservative Senate, and a (Lip service puppet) "Conservative" "President."
