Another issue with a straight six is it lends itself to long strokes, and Torque. The trade-off is Horsepower, which is only really significant for gearing, and what you want to do with it. Which is why I6 is generally used for things like trucks, turbodiesels (The simplified manifolds really help here) and a flat six is better for light high rev horsepower applications. Like a Subaru Imprezza, or a Porsche 911 GT3. I personally like a nice torquey straight six roadster. (You make up for the weight, and low revs of the engine by making the car small, and light.)
