I think winter vacation is a more appropriate name, as it expands to the new year as well, as much as I know (I don't live in Christain country, but from TV shows and all kind of business that are on break from Christmas to new year... so... yeah, doesn't sound like Chrismas holiday. Unless it really ends right after Chrismas.
