  3.  @SuperDave-vj9en  I did not deny the Younger Dryas, but citing an impact event is speculative. There is not enough evidence for an impactor, not even as a hypothesis.

  4.  @williamharris8367  right now the biggest threat to the wild herds is brucillosis from all the cattle brought to north America by old world colonizers. Cattle ranches are incubators of disease, probably for the exact reason that the herds aren't allowed to roam and so they inevitably eat each others' poop.

  5. It doesn't really make much sense that horseback hunting by Native Americans could have depleted the herd, since it also eliminated the need for corralling and jumps. Once they had horses, their ability to harvest bison would have been much closer to their actual needs. It theoretically could go from a series of seasonal culls and massive waste to what we would call a just-in-time supply chain today.
