it expressly co-opted the socialists and simultaneously appeased the bankers

@Turshin we could do without the moody gurus and the world would get on fine. We don't need Jobs to create jobs, and products that are "revolutionary" are only really thought of that way in hindsight,. Some of them are even failures when they're launched.

A friend of mine replaced Morton Downey Jr. on the air in Cleveland after his final shot at broadacsting on AM talk radio failed. He told me he really was a prick in real life.

the parts of this episode about the social democrat failures, Hitler's populist demagoguery, the two-tiered justice system in Germany, and the sympathetic/normalizing media st the time are hitting a little too close to home, but then again I've been saying we're living in Weimar 2.0 for the better part of a decade now

Only hindsight can show us who the visionaries were, and which visions were actually nightmares.

1:02:18 that's been pretty much all of US foreign policy, specifically in the Middle East where it has always resembled an actual crusade to secure the "Holy Land"

We got Wally George through cable TV syndication in Cleveland at the same time that Georgia wrestling promotion was ending and the WWF was just getting started. I always thought it was scripted just like wrestling, and I thought the same thing about MDJ later on. I was a smarter than average adolescent I suppose, but I immediately recognized their clear contradictions. I guess that's also why Marx' critique of capitalism appealed to me. Springer didn't flow from the Pyne/George/Downey river, he was much more of the Phil Donahue stream. There was never any ideology behind him, just raw exploitation.

too late for Mkhaila Peterson

@AceAcabras do you still have the car thief from Cleveland?

49:05 everyone I've met from various countries in North Africa, ALL of whom hated Qaddafi and said he was an insane devil monster, told me that the serial rape allegations are all Western propaganda.

@Turshin "you have to be a little disturbed to be a ceo of anything." What are you basing that on? Do you have any idea how common that position is?
2
it must have really bummed Hitler out when he watched it and realized it was about him

@robertsimpson6324 PragerU isn't a real college my dude

@Turshin as far as hardware upgrades, yeah we're probably going to hit a wall with affordability and computing power in consumer devices. Phones might return to the leasing model that used to be more common, I think it still exists for some flagship phones on larger carriers. Regulation of e-waste might play a part in that.
1
@Turshin well I'm sorry that's been your experience, but there are tens of thousands of different companies with that type of leadership structure out there. I hope you find someone good to work for eventually.

he basically was.

Did Woz choose the sign fonts in Norwalk, CA?

Was she mad at you for being right?

If you think private insurance fraud investigation and prosecution is ridiculous, remember that it's no less ridiculous than credit card fraud policies. Basically they investigate nothing, pay both parties and write it off.

"No Party Preference" is often a shorthand for right wing independents though. They wisely avoid all the junk mail.
1
@AceAcabras no it was Darrel Issa. An actual car thief.
1
@AceAcabras yeah you're right, I haven't been paying attention to North County for the last few years, He's well outnumbered down there, even though everyone else down there is a fake progressive.
1
yeah I guess OC flipped blue so they have to go somewhere they can displace the locals without going broke. Expect racist skinheads to make a comeback there too

@Papawcanner I seem to recall a bombing campaign by the coalition which was called "Divine Justice" or "Divine Retribution" or something similar, and the Bush admin had the change the name because of the overt religious implications. Am I remembering that correctly? Because I can't find anything about it online.

1. I never knew Thiel lived in Cleveland, he shares great company such as Darrell Issa, another future California Republican. Gross. 2. ENOUGH WITH THE RIVER FIRE BULLSHIT. You're basically shitting on the legacy of a BLACK mayor who finally said enough is enough and reached out to a Republican president for help, which was part of the momentum for forming the EPA, probably the last great bipartisan thing to happen in the US. You would have never even heard of the fire if he hadn't decided to take a stand for the environment, so stop being a fucking racist.
