People who buy new cars rely on dealer service intervals until they are out of warranty, and even then some people don't even bother. That's not to say how weak the Ukrainians are, but rather how much more effective the US military is compared to the RF. What they need to do is build office buildings downtown like olden times, and also build walkable neighborhoods around them. Columbus isn't doing that, instead they simply reversed the commute from downtown to the suburbs during rush hour. Especially since they gave away all their tax revenue from businesses so that revenue from individuals is all that's left. It worked sooo well in Detroit...   781. The difference between Ukraine and the former Yugoslavian states is that Ukraine's borders haven't moved for over half a century. The ethnic Russians there were put there by the USSR. Serbia, Bosnia etc had an opportunity to redraw their borders when they became brand new states, and they didn't do that in a sensible manner. What they need to do now are quid pro quo land swaps, and consolidate their ethnic bases. As long as everyone agrees to it, then it wouldn't be "ethnic cleansing."

The referendum in Donbas wasn't legal because it was administered by Russia, and it was held AFTER a lot of Ukrainian loyalists had fled due to Russian-backed terrorism  @milostomic8539 . It's the same thing they did in Crimea, none of it was legal or even remotely ethical. And don't forget that Russia AGREED to the legally recognized borders in 1991, now they want to backpedal 30 years later? If they hold a legit referendum in the Kosovo territory and the majority want to secede, then fine. The small amount of territory in dispute was ALREADY majority Serb, that's another huge difference with Donbas. They could jointly administer the referendum or each do their own, they would still likely get the same result.

  791. Another thing people need to understand is that there are probably more foreign agents inside our government than at any time in history, because we keep electing them. Politicians who take donations from and peddle influence with our strategic competitors would love to cancel systems like the F35. Sure, a few might be legitimately concerned about the cost of the program, but they have access to more information than we do about it, so they should all know better. And it's also one of the biggest reasons why Russia and China want to keep other countries from joining NATO or otherwise making themselves eligible to buy into the program.

  799. The sad part of all of this is that I saw it all coming with Uber and Lyft and no one believed me. I lived in San Diego when all these app services started out, and before they were in multiple states. So-called progressive California Dems did nothing about them, including Attorney General Kamala Harris who knew they were all operating without appropriate licenses. I even tried warning people in other states, and they all told me I was crazy too. Some of the same lefties who are whining about it now told me I was just ignorant because I was part of an old system, like I was just some kind of sad Luddite. Ten years later, every driver I know who jumped on board in the beginning has since gone back to driving a regular cab or moved to an entirely different job, and delivery apps have insane turnover rates. Also, AirBnB has destroyed whole neighborhoods and killed hotel jobs (many of which were unionized.)

We had public housing for half a century, and it was deliberately underfiunded primarily because of the beliefs of people like you. While it existed, private development continued. No developers were harmed by it. Maybe, just MAYBE, it's possible to do both things. Because we already did it.

  1411. Look at previous UA gov policies regarding outside companies developing their resources. They've gone back and forth on allowing foreign companies in, depending on the administration. I absolutely understand them wanting to do it themselves, and they have the smarts if not the capital. But honestly, it makes the most sense right now to allow it, as that would be a near blank check for UA to buy whatever weapons it wants in the immediate future. I think something like a 30 year lease would probably cover their war tab, and they can renegotiate then.

Yuppies aren't going to give up their cars, but they like the new apartments. And I mentioned median wages earlier because that's the criteria for most "affordable" units there. I worked on one all "affordable" unit project down in Otay Mesa that cut people off who made more than $45k, which is now less than half the median for SD. So mixed and multifamily absolutely makes sens along transit corridors, and most people would agree, and yet nothing guarantees true affordability or availability. Another thing people overlook is commercial property like office and retail that does not include any housing at all, like grocery stores and such. Those are huge footprints that no one is addressing, and those kinds of properties are generally leased so that there is no burning reason why it can't be built as mixed use. I lived on a main street in San Diego that ran through one of the smaller neighborhoods, and we had a Von's and a drug store right across the street from one another on the main drag. Neither parking lot was ever full and there is no push to get future build outs on those properties to include housing. It's a huge waste. Yet one of the new projects right on the same main drag with a popular bus line is supposed to be high end condos with reduced parking requirements. No fn way those people are going to use MTS to get anywhere.
