Never use a check to pay for anything if you can possibly avoid it. Checks are inherently insecure, regardless of the ink used to write them or whether they are sent by mail. If you have ever set up electronic payment by bank draft, you probably know that the payee only needs two numbers to do it: the account number and routing number of your bank account. Both of those numbers are printed at the bottom of every one of your checks. Anyone who has one of your checks for a few seconds (long enough to snap a picture of it with their phone) has all of the information they need to take money out of your bank account.
