Christine, about those contact lens cases: Teach your kids to use a checklist when packing for travel. I have to do this myself, or I’ll forget something important. I keep my checklist on my phone, but you might want to store yours on a computer so you can print copies when you need them. Hand a copy to each kid and say, “Check off each item as you pack it.” Also, put a 5-pack of contact lens cases in YOUR luggage, so when your kids forget the extras you just gave them, you can pull out another one and hand it to them (along with a stern Mom Glare). P.S. I love black licorice. But I support people who hate it, because that means there’s more for me.

Thanks for the tips, Christine. Just came back from Aldi with two dozen eggs (the price was $2.29 per dozen!) and a frozen pizza, along with a bunch of other food. I would have bought more pizzas, but there's no more room in my freezer!

@joanshealy1662 I can’t tell the difference. If you can, good for you. In any case, I keep a carton of the shelf-stable milk in my cabinet as a backup, just in case the milk in my fridge runs out and I can’t go to the store for more. So for me, “Is this exactly like ordinary refrigerated milk?” is the wrong question. The correct question is: “Is this better than no milk at all?” And the answer is: “Yes.”

Christine, you ARE going share your movie list with us, right? Right?

My view of warehouse clubs like Costco is that they only make sense if you’re buying in bulk for a family. Am I wrong about that? My wife and I used to shop at BJ’s all the time for our family of four. But when we became empty nesters, we decided to let our membership lapse and just shop at Walmart. Now I’m divorced and living alone in a small apartment with limited storage space. I can’t see how a warehouse club would be worthwhile for me. But maybe I’m mistaken. Comments?

I have the meat masher. I bought it at the world’s largest Dollar Tree in Burlington, NC. Used it last night to mash potatoes.
