  1. The only can opener in my kitchen is a safety model made by OXO. I think I bought it at Bed Bath & Beyond. It cuts into the seal from the outside rather than the top. I’ve had it for so long that I had actually forgotten there was anything remarkable about it. I do also own a P38 can opener, identical to the ones used by WWII soldiers to open their C-rations. As part of my everyday carry hobby, it’s always in my pocket whenever I go out. I’ve tried using it a few times, and it works just fine. Opening a can with it takes a bit of patience, but it gets the job done.
