Our universities are no longer places of education, they are now far left centres for programming impressionable young minds. DISGUSTING.

@samp8850 People start out on the left and make their way to the right as they grow older and WISER, young man.

@jaketaylor5686 Rhodes was an incredible man who ended up having a country named after him,. He had the gu8ile and drive to go and make something of himself and committed no real evil when alive, so seems to make an ideal roll model for young graduates to aim for. Removing history that you don't like and monuments is not progress, it is cultural Marxism and VERY UNPOPULAR.

@tamaratembo4422 Who is divided? I love my country, culture and its history, without hating anyone. Being patriotic is not about hate, it is about love. This is also about the nation state, which should be protected from the current attacks on it. Without countries protecting us, we'd all be ruled by corporate elites in some kind of dystopian technocracy, which would be IMPOSSIBLE to escape from. Love your country, or you're screwed.

@Raautix The "far right" are not rising at all, nationalism is rising, which is a good thing. See my reply to "Tamaro Tembo". If someone is right of centre, they often get labelled (wrongly) by left wing people as "far right" in an effort to try and devalue or taint their point of view. People are waking up to that now and will have none of it.

@peterheke Yes it was teaching people! A statue is not just an ornament, it is a reminder for the current crop of students that if you persevere and have ambition, you can achieve great things. Removing this statue is only teaching the students the narrative that our history is bad, when it is anything but bad.

@peterheke Cecil Rhodes was a man of his time! It is very unwise and unfair to judge people from ages past by modern standards. Whose to say that in a century from now people might look at us and comment how stupid we were to have removed that statue. History is important, even the bits you don't like.
