  1. Britain has fought 7 wars in the past 20 years alone and their troops are among the best in the world. Also, Britain has much advanced weaponry like fighter drones that the Spanish would not expect. Britain may choose to use nuclear weapons against military targets, alongside its other ballistic missiles. The Spanish fleet would not dare leave port for fear of being sunk by British submarines and its still powerful fleet. The logistical arm (Royal Fleet Auxiliary) allows Britain to launch operations anywhere in the world, so attacking the mainland would be a viable option. The Spanish would not even be able to take Gibraltar without losing THOUSANDS of men in the first place, due to the garrison being trained well in urban warfare and night fighting. Then there would be potential friends in Basque and Catalan separatists. Spain would end up a third of its current size and Britain would still have Gibraltar.
