Some well-heeled buyers wanted rolling smoothness, ultra low noise/vibration/harshness characteristics, a coddling dealership purchase and service experience, and outstanding reliability in a large comfortable sedan. I happen to love the ES with the torquey V6 and the high quality interior with easy to use and understand physical controls. Maybe since I'm older, I don't need all of the complications of the ES' competitors
