@SH-ii6uo Soldiers (at least in the US Military/Western Military) do not Deliberately kill non-combatants. Does it happen? Yes, But A Lot less frequently than in past wars, XXth air force 1944 comes to mind. OTOH if Curtis LeMay had the technology we have today the fire bombing of Japan would not have happened.

@SH-ii6uo I can think on any number of armies (in modern times that did (and do0 kill civilians (The Soviets in Afghanistan, war lords in Africa, Islamic Terrorists, the Imperial Japanese Army, Wehrmacht. none of which were/are US/Western Armies.

@SH-ii6uo "The last necessary war was WW2." Was It? Winston Churchill would disagree. He once called it "The Unnecessary War". What about the Korean War? If that was fought all of the Korean Peninsula would be like North Korea. Thing is Every Body Says they Hate war. Yet in 6000+ years of recorded history I can't find a 10 year period where one group of people (with merry abandonment and a smile on their lips) is not fighting killing enslaving another group of people. I gives me no pleasure to say War is what we do. A small fact. Today is one of The Most Peaceful Times in recorded history. Their are fewer wars going on today than any time in recorded history (See a site called Mind Gapper) Is there Nothing you wouldn't fight and (possibly) Die for?

@SH-ii6uo Churchill very imperfect (as we all are). But on one thing he was correct. The reason he said this was France, Britain had many chances to stop him (see the Rhineland) but didn't. Hence "The Unnecessary War". "That said, Korea was not our problem and frankly the Korean War led to the problems we face today with North Korea." You really sure you want to go down that road, my friend? Because down that road (isolationism) there's Nothing good.
