@hydrogenmissle History text Books (more often than not) are boring. Example "History of the Goths" Herwig Wolfram If you have trouble getting sleep...2-3 Paragraphs, you'll be out like a light.

I am an unlicensed non-certified historian. I can't find a society in the 6000 years of recorded history that sanctioned same sex Marriage. That is not to say that homosexuality wasn't accepted, and in some case mandatory (Spartan Hoplites, The Golden Band of Thebes) but Marriage was Always between Men and Women.

@hydrogenmissle The Subject is Not Boring, in fact it was reading that the Slavs moved into the Balkans around 600 AD that got me reading/studying Late Rome/Early Medieval History. That particular book however is a whole other thing.

@hydrogenmissle You might want instead to look at "The Early Germans" by Malcolm Todd "Barbarians and Romans (the birth struggle of Europe AD 400-700)" Justine Davis Randers-Pehrson "The Barbarian West 400-1000" J.M. Wallace-Hadrill The Great Courses also has a series on Medieval Europe by Phillip Daileader. Expensive..But Very Good.
