  1. the story of the spanish civil war begins in the 1920s when the government lost all the money in the wall street crash almost bankrupting public finances. this unrest led to the toppling of the king and a declaration of a new republic, which was then hijacked by international communists who tried to seize the lands and means of production. but they were stopped by nationalists in 1939. spain recovered well over the next few decades, but then made the same mistake again with EU bankers, and have once again become bankrupt.
