Well media always have been giving trigger warnings. “Some viewers may find the next programme ‘blah blah’ please look away if you don’t want to watch”. This is seen a lot in the UK before Soap operas when they have stories about domestic violence, abuse etc… And then after the show they usually give numbers for helplines.

@shaaaairuuu I agree. I do not watch the news or read newspapers for the same reason as your friend. It makes my mood negative. And if there’s an interesting story I’ll ask a friend to tell me about it. Once u stop watching the news you realise how negative and triggering it is. There’s always some crisis in the world the news wants you to pay all your attention to but paying attention doesn’t solve the crisis. Just makes people more negative and desperate

@Merione no. I was SA as a kid and when I knew something on TV was coming on a bout that I would completely ignore it. Not pay attention to it. There was times where I felt obliged to watch shows that included that (cos I had guests round) ITS SOOO UNCOMFORTABLE. I don’t want to sit watching a TV show and be reminded of my dad touching me. EWWWW. It’s not gonna solve anything. I could watch stuff like that on my own but defo not around people. Others who have been SA or R worded can relate cos u would have to mask around your guests unless you want to shout out “THATS ME”. Which most of us do not feel safe to share that so we basically have to mask our abuse around others. It’s extremely tiring and uncomfortable. I’m fine with it now but only cos I did therapy
