  1. That ended when a pro-Russian leader in Ukraine tried to move away from Europe and towards Russia, but the PEOPLE revolted because THEY never forget the Holodomor from about 90 years ago! Putin then responded by violating the agreement and invading Crimea and putting up a bogus “referendum” on joining Russia that no one else sees as legitimate. Then he dropped Russian army guys with blank uniforms in Donbas to start a “separatist” movement to further destabilize Ukraine, and make their joining NATO and the EU impossible since who wants to admit a member with problems like that? The thinking now is, he may not take the whole of Ukraine, just slice off Donbas, and then cut off the south to take Ukraine’s industrial heart and all of their ports! It’s “Anschluss” all over again.
