In an ideal world the US would not work with dictators like Xi. Nixon going to China was a mistake, as was giving the “China” UN seat to Beijing instead of Taipei. Mao and his ilk should have been left pariahs like North Korea in the hopes that the people would rise up and remove the communists in favor of something more democratic.
