Iran has it’s little spider web of terrorist groups across the region, instead of having Hezbollah attacking Israel directly, they got the Houthis to distrust international shipping for a larger impact. Plus Iran is active in the Straight of Hormuz on the other side of the Arabian peninsula, and that could mess with shipping of oil (while the Saudis got smart and built an oil terminal on the Red Sea to compensate, the Houthi have missiles that can reach it.)
