  1. It was guessed a few months ago that Russia would try to slice off the east, and also the south of Ukraine, to steal their industrial might, and cut them off from the ports. So the move to Kyiv to replace the government could have been a bonus goal that they’ve either given up on because of logistical problems, or they’ll see how things are going in the other parts of their plan first.
