  1. The high cost of Concorde was also because of the speed of the flight, which no one else could match. It was also loud a subsonic speeds, because it basically ran on four jet fighter engines and used afterburners for take off. (I’ve seen Concorde on it’s departure climb fly over me, and you could definitely hear it before you could see it, but it got louder and louder before you could see it, much louder than even the loudest subsonic plane flying at the time.
