$25,000 in 1981... At that time most American cars were about $8,000. Today $25,000 will get you a small car. But, $60,000 will get you that new Corvette. So it’s still about the same in terms of pricing, but back in 1981 if you asked someone “Corvette, or DMC-12?” They’d probably go for a Corvette, because it was (and still is) American made. (Sadly most other “American” branded cars these days are only “Assembled” here, usually out of parts from anywhere but here. If only Delorean did what foreign makers are doing now, build the factory in the South without UAW labor, might have turned out differently.)
