@tylerswint2695 The ITER is still about 5 years from switching on, and there’s no guarantee it will produce more power than it uses to keep the plasma from fizzling. Plus it’s costing billions of Euros, so it not only has to work right, but be scalable to the point that it’s cheaper to build.

@mrseyo6572 perhaps we should be researching ways to use it after it's no longer viable for power plants. Certain designs of "molten salt reactors" could be an option, as they don't need as pure of a fuel source, and can even use depleted uranium.

@BGGIEMAN Trump promised more coal mining and jobs for coal miners... the coal industry is still collapsing, because most electric plants that use coal are shutting down, or converting to Natural Gas.

Problem with electric heat: in the 1990s a major ice storm hit Quebec and knocked out the power... Quebec had cheap enough electric power (thanks to hydroelectric dams) that most homes used electric heat... no power+extremely cold temperatures= people froze to death in their homes.

Wind turbine blades are fiberglass like boat hulls... not exactly easy to recycle... and apparently when you replace them you either have to eat the cost to recycle them or just landfill them... I think most are ending up in landfills.
