I think Seinfeld worked because many of the writers and producers did live in New York at some point. Spike Feresten worked for Letterman for a while, and found an odd soup kitchen, when he moved to LA and started working on Seinfeld, Jerry and Larry agreed that the soup kitchen should be his first script… and “No soup for you!” became a national phenomenon! (Al Yegenah, the owner of the soup kitchen tore Jerry, Spike and some other people from the show a new one, then threw them all out when they tried to eat at his place after that episode, so he must’ve put it together.)

The end when Jerry finds out she taped over the end of the bootleg of the art film “there’s a lone dancer who appears to be in distress…”

Cell phones started to become more of a thing towards the end of the show, the last episode has the subplot of Jerry calling out Elaine’s poor cell phone etiquette while trying to call a friend over something serious.
