Nintendo can only blame themselves, they asked Sony to help them build a CD capable Super Famicom/SNES, but then the deal fell apart, and Sony got mad and decided, “Fine… we’ll do it ourselves.” And they developed the first Playstation. (There is at least one functional prototype with the CD drive and cartridge slot that has been unofficially dubbed the “Nintendo Playstation”.) The move used different tech than the Wii, the move needed the camera and the orbs, while the Wii just had an RF sensor bar you put near your TV. The camera and lights setup continued on the PS4, but it followed the lights on the back of the standard controllers instead of a special controller.
