  1. While not technically a lead character, we learned so much more about Chief Miles O'Brien on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine than we really ever did on Star Trek: the Next Generation. Also they did move Lt. Cmdr. Worf over to this show in later seasons which also helped to flesh out his character even more.
