  1. @ well impeachment and conviction usually doesn’t come with a jail sentence, he’d have been removed from office. The DOJ would still have been able to prosecute him though… hence Ford pardoning Nixon.

  2. If he had tried to stay in power, the Senate would have Impeached Nixon. He quit to avoid being fired.
