The Scots lost Culloden because of the poor terrain, and the English training their troops to fire their single shot long guns at a faster pace to overcome the “Scots charge.” (literraly a horde of angry armed to the teeth screaming Scots running straight at the British lines with broadswords and dirks (really long daggers). That actually did work for time, as they were able to close the distance before the British could shoot again).
