  1. Trump has admitted those air stairs are pretty treacherous, that’s why he always walked up slowly and used the hand rail... if he tripped, he knew he’d never live that down. I’m surprised he didn’t replace them.

I believe because Trump had them buy “used” (pre-built but never used by the original buyer and put in storage) 747-800s, and not custom built from the wheels up new planes, putting in the refueling equipment would be impossible without rebuilding the entire airframe (which might cost more than putting it into a custom build).
