Infinite growth would only be plausible with some kind of matter synthesis tech (e.g. the replicator from Star Trek), but then if you were somehow able to ask a magic box on the wall for anything, economics might cease to exist (again Star Trek, there is no money, at least in the Federation/Starfleet, since humanity was forever changed after meeting alien life.)
