  2.  @feffygracie  Carter was a weaker President at the wrong time, but it was either him, or more Gerald Ford. Voting public took out their anger towards Nixon on him (pardoning Nixon didn’t do Ford any favors). (Fun fact: Ford remains the only President never elected to the executive branch since he was Speaker of the House (a job he actually wanted), and moved into the Vice Presidency and later Presidency via the line of succession).

  3. Easy, Trump believes that Putin will someday let him build a hotel of some sort in Moscow because it might be popular with the ultra-rich people that Trump pretends to be. (See the hotel the Trump Organization wanted to manage in Baku, Azerbaijan (not sure if it ever opened). That’s another place run by an authoritative leader that Trump seems to think are “good people”). There’s nothing of “value” to Trump’s businesses in Ukraine, at least in his mind.
