Story got (in)famous enough that Mr. Sampson has his own Wikipedia page! He had to plead guilty EVERY TIME to just get out of jail because he couldn’t afford bail... which made him a “repeat offender” and led to more harassment. Court system did nothing for this man. And the cops would arrest people waiting in line to check out of the store too! When the owner complained to internal affairs, the cops ramped up the insanity until they all filed a federal civil rights suit (state attorney did jack shit.) It was so bad, one of the cops even flipped and testified for the people arrested!
