In DC you presume they're all traitors & have conflicted interests. Look at Jimmy Carter. He understood that & he couldnt navigate it. Nixon before him understood & despite being the most brilliant guy to sit behind the Resolute Desk or at least one of them he became a Paranoid Leader. There's a way you have to handle that without anyone suspecting you're on to it until they can't do anything about it when they figure it out that you've figured it out. They will cut you open if they can & let the scavengers pick your bones. You know that going in & it has to precursor everything you do in that environment or you won't make it or you'll either be able to stay but you'll be ineffective like Carter or it'll make you make mistakes like Nixon.
