@stikupartist3698 Alot of them fought the North NOT to preserve slavery, but because they knew that had They begun losing the war that people like Sherman would ravage the shit out of their homes and villages. It doesn't justify their actions but alot of them didn't really care for slavery. That was a luxury for the elite.
