@Doc1855 I thought he is a Christian and not a Muslim?

@61espo I am a Yankees fan also! from middle USA ... i certainly hope you are accurate about that Guaranteed, did you personally inspect everything done on your vehicle. My Tacoma is 20 years older than yours LOL! my drive to the car nut shop is 8 hours one way and now we have to take it back 8 hours after he had it in the shop for 12 weeks

@61espo when i dropped the truck off the shop was 2 weeks behind with other vehicles so there was a wait to get it all started. Then the holiday break and brutal winter temperatures. it was a number of 'small repairs & new parts maintenance that i could not DIY in my driveway... replacing 26+ year old parts with brand new OEM parts (very pricey genuine parts that Fit Right the First Time) which included power steering rack that was leaking after 300k miles, suspension control arms (i think the rubber bushings were shot from age and seized)_ truck also needed a new clutch finally for the manual transmission, speedometer cable. Total cost after everything (not including travel costs) was more than $7000 ... I do not readily trust local-to-me Toyota shops (nor independent shops for that matter) after many sloppy hack jobs they did with my old truck that i have had since brand new for almost 27 years now. I've spent 2 years watching The Car Nut videos and came to the conclusion that he would be the best to handle this task from his experience and the appearance of being very fastidious (just like i am personally) paying attention to every little detail... now I have to make the long days journey back to the shop after inspecting what all was done

@61espo it is sorta humorous!?

i need even more future routine maintenance done at the car nut shop... valve cover gaskets (starting to weep again after dealership did them 5 years ago) valve clearances checked for proper specs, + a new timing belt and possibly the water pump as well

@61espo i hope you do as well (get the same high mileage!) the truck has been mostly a freeway longer distance work and road trips, NO short trips if it can be helped, i have a now-beater 96 Corolla (137k miles all-stop and-go city) for the in-town grocery getter type of trips, the winter roadsalts have done damage to it unfortunately with a rotted fuel tank and fuel lines, i don't care about all the rotted body panels, doors and rockers because it is a very low maintenance grocery getter LOL

@61espo why Guaranteed?

@DZE457 LOL!

@61espo that comment was in reference to the comment that poster Doc1855 made and directed to them here is what they said.. "We all have to learn, did the mechanic 26 hours away. It’s your money, but I certainly wouldn’t drive that far for a mechanic, especially someone whose religion says to cut my head off if I don’t believe like them. That religion takes away the rights of people, which is Opposite of the Bible" perhaps i was reading too much into that comment?

@njsongwriter LMAO

@midwestrustwarrior how do you get that FF stuff to stick in the highwash wheel house openings? it always washed right off for me every time i had to wheel it in the heavy Iowa rain

@plakor6133 LOL

What's it in the car nut shop for? He had my old 97 rig in the shop for 12 weeks!
1
@ I suppose it was ok, it was during the middle of the winter and i am a distance away from the nut shop... but the windows were left down inside and found a nasty film inside covering EVERYTHING... shop dirt dust grime
1
definitely can be a challenge!
1
use Cosmoline wax to protect from the winter Monster?
1
i have similar questions as well regarding the lifetime fluids
1
does your rig take that special 75W toyota fluid for the transfer that has an MSRP of +100$ for a litre?

i don't think you are the only one in that boat 8^{ of the monkeys working under your vehicle not informing you or even caring about it ... i sorta 'lucked out' by seeing the Yota trucks of the 1980s + the early/mid-90s with the most serious of body rott in the rear tailgate, lower doors and wheel house fender openings... when it came my time to become a Gen1 originator i routinely hosed the road slop + salt off and out of all those areas as best as i could when the temps were right around freezing so the doors wouldn't totally freeze shut the next morning! I also had the dealer spray it underneath before taking delievery with that rubbery undercoating to winter protect it... but i had no idea what was going on behind that undercoating until it fell off 20+ years later... LOTs of surface rust lay behind it i had not ever seen before. put in some good long hours repairing that precious frame coating with something i think is MUCH more durable and lasting to road salt spray

@zzoinks it was late in 2o18 before i stumbled upon a tacoma toyota forum and i had NO clue about the dangers the Winter Monster actually did and i am still freaked out by it all this many years later 8^{
1
yes, there are a variety of methods and techniques for that

how do you get that FF stuff to stick in the highwash wheel house openings? it always washed right off for me every time i had to wheel it in the Iowa rain
1
@zzanatos2001 do they use that black Mag stuff where you are at? I have ventured into Colorado on a few winters north of Denver where that black stuff was all over the tacoma
1
@counterbalancelife4305 does that surface shield product hold up well if you put a general water hose sprayer to it... NOT a high pressure one, just one like you might find at a DIY wash and wand place thank You! ps- i have yet to experiment with that product for its durability... Fluid Film FAILED in my tests, it would wash off much too easily in the high-wash wheelhouse areas
