This much be a relic of a relic family still practicing because I’m from one of these areas of ‘new France’ as a started calling Missouri when I was dating a Frenchwoman and I’ve never even seen anybody with a French name here. It was taken over generations ago by Germans as we all have German names, but also ceased to speak anything but English long ago.
