The fact that they wish to conceal the evidence means that they are trying to hide something. If the west does do an investigation, it will be biased. When all diplomatic efforts failed and time was running out, the Russian leadership had to make the extremely difficult decision to launch a military invasion. Time was running out, the longer they wait the more arms will be sent to Ukraine. Russian intelligence had reliable information that the Ukrainian military was planning an invasion into the rebel held territory. This was evident by the increasing Ukrainian military troop build-up near the rebel held territory. Remember that the Ukrainian leadership supported the introduction of nuclear weapons to the Ukrainian military arsenal. They also wished to join NATO. In my honest opinion, NATO expansion is a serious concern for the Russian leadership. I would compare this situation to the Cuban missile crisis. Nobody want’s offensive weapons placed at their doorstep. Imagine if Russia placed offensive weapons in Mexico, Venezuela or Cuba. The US would immediately threaten military action. People should watch the Oliver stone film "Ukraine on Fire". It is truthful and based on facts. I can understand how some people might see it as propaganda. When anyone watches a video about a serious subject, emotional bias can be present. I'm not asking you to believe everything in that film, I'm only suggesting that you consider the most important and fact based points. Many are well trained and have vast experience during the 8 year long civil war. They have received modern weapons and training from NATO. Keep in mind that Ukraine has a land area of 603 548 square km (that’s bigger than France). Also, keep in mind that the Russian troops don’t wish to blitzkrieg Ukraine. That would result in huge civilian casualties and mass destruction. So far the Ukrainian air force is almost nonoperational and the Ukrainian navy has been completely incapacitated. The best Ukrainian ground troops are almost completely surrounded in the east and they have the best equipment. What happens once those troops are defeated?
