  14. At independence, Ukraine said it would be neutral and not join any military alliance against Russia. After 2014 coup, sponsored by the US, the new Ukranian govt. put into their constitution they would seek NATO membership. This would allow the US to have naval bases in Ukraine and shut off Russia's Black Sea fleet which sailed from Sevastopol, Crimea. Sevastopol was leased from Ukraine by the Russian navy under the terms of independence agreed between Russia and Ukraine. Ukraine has unilaterally tried to renege on its independence agreement with Russia with western backing. Hence, Russia has decided to annul Ukraine's independence.

  20. The main problem with western peace offers are that they are non-starters : asking Russia to vacate Donbass and Crimea. Ukraine tried to use the US to threaten Russia, it did not work out, it lost Crimea and Donbass, why would Russia agree to give them back ? Why would it agree to allow NATO bases in Ukraine ? Ukraine and the west do not have any good cards. The war is lost for them.

The west devised these rules without consultation with others, and it imposed these rules on others and flouted them when convenient. For example when invading Iraq. Or supporting its colonial project in Israel. This man does not mention that west's own record of undermining the rules based order. He acknowledges that western dominance is coming to an end, with Russia defeating US hegemony militarily, China challenging it in the economy, and medium size powers like Iran, Turkey, Saudi, Emirates etc. refusing to play according to western dictates. But after acknowledging this, he concludes with a feeble plea to support Ukraine - when it is a lost case and the whole world knows ! Plus ca change.... the British colonial mentality cannot change. This man only wants restoration of the western order somehow and he thinks it is by supporting Ukraine. But the inventors of the rule based order do not want to fight for Ukraine and get killed. As the Indian foreign minister said, it is time for the US to join the new international order for its own survival.

They will take the Russian part of Ukraine, turn the remainder into a wasteland, and keep a low intensity war going there, and make it impossible for NATO to enter. But here we are, Russia has taken Donbass, fortified it, destroyed Ukraine's power grid, and run the west out of artillery shells. On top of that, Russia has come out on top in the economic warfare. It is in the process of de-industrialising Germany and Europe and it has kicked off de-dollarisation which will cut into American power. People are on strike in France, Germany, UK due to inflation. The Polish farmers are blocking Ukrainian grain. The leader of the western world, the US is led by a doddering senile, and it is fighting to contain its debt. The DT has been telling us that Russian soldiers had low morale, they lost many officers and generals, Putin had a mysterious hand tremor and was dying, Russians had to use washing machine chips for their missiles, that they had run out of missiles, and are reduced to fighting in Bakhmut with shovels. But every few days we hear Russia fired a salvo of missiles including the hypersonic ones, and drones, and Soledar and Bakhmut are gone. It does not square with the western propaganda. The fact is mighty Russia has defeated 40 nations including the US and the collective west is smarting !

What Zelensky is saying is 'put me into NATO, and I shall give up the lost land - but only temporarily'. It is a case of a loser dictating terms to the winner. He wants to have all the cake and eat it. He is not serious and Russia is never going to agree. There will be no ceasefire just because Trump does not want to give money. Russia will press ahead. The Russian terms now are stiffer than in Turkey : Ukraine has to cede the 5 oblasts AND has to be neutral and de-militarised. That is reasonable and to be expected. If Ukraine does not agree to neutrality, it will lose Odessa and Kiev as well, and the rump Ukraine will be bombed into a wasteland till the EU and NATO abandons it. Alexei Aristovich, a member of the Ukrainian negotiating delegation in Turkey, said that everything was turned upside down after Boris's visit. Boris was Biden's errand boy, and they reached the conclusion if Ukraine and Russia agree peace between themselves, the Anglo Saxons would be cut out. They British and Americans wanted the war to continue because they imagined they could defeat Russia. Now with the expected Ukrainian victory not materialising, they are resigned to negotiations but want to strengthen Ukraine's position at the table. Even that they cannot achieve. It will be a comprehensive defeat and what Boris feared the most - the end of western hegemony.

And it is putting out feelers to freeze the war, negotiate etc. But the problem is NATO will not be accepted as peacekeeper, and the US does not want NATO involved as peacekeeper.
